Breakfast with Clara & Nutcracker Tea: An Experience You'll Remember

Picture a Saturday in late November….
The air has that first real chill, the kind that makes a warm cup of tea feel like a small gift. You pull into the lot at Carroll County Dance Center & Ballet Conservatory, and something is different. The studio you know so well has been transformed.
Inside, there's a hush of anticipation. Your child, hand in yours, has been counting down the days. Maybe she's in her best dress, or he's chosen a bow tie for the occasion. Either way, they're walking a little taller, because this isn't just any Saturday. This is Breakfast with Clara and Nutcracker Tea, and the story is about to come to life, right in front of them.

Step Into Clara's World
Every December, our dancers carry The Nutcracker from the studio to the stage. But before the curtain rises, we open the doors and invite our families into the story first.
Here, the magic isn't behind a stage or across a theater. It's close enough to touch. Clara herself is waiting to greet you, and for a child who has hummed Tchaikovsky in the car, spun through the kitchen in socks, and dreamed of the Land of Sweets, meeting her is the moment the storybook opens.

Settle In, Sip, and Savor
Find your seat, wrap your hands around a warm cup, and let the day unfold. This is the part of the season where nobody is rushing. There are no rehearsal schedules or carpool logistics, just families sharing a table, whispering about favorite characters, and watching little eyes go wide as the story comes closer.
It's a tradition that has become part of how our CCDC community begins the holiday season: together, celebrating the dancers who have worked so hard, and the families who cheer them on from the very first plié.

A Memory in the Making
Years from now, you probably won't remember what was on your to-do list that Saturday. But you'll remember your child's face when Clara said hello. You'll remember the photo you almost didn't take. You'll remember that this was the day the season stopped being something you were planning and became something you were in.
And just two weeks later, on Saturday, December 12th, you'll sit in the audience at The Eichelberger Performing Arts Center in Hanover, Pennsylvania, and watch the story you've been inside of all season rise with the curtain. Your child will know Clara, and that makes the whole performance feel like it belongs to them.
