Upper Division

Welcome to Carroll County Dance Center & Ballet Conservatory's Upper Division for ages 14.5 and up.
This division is designed for experienced dancers who are refining their technique. Dancers who are preparing to audition for a collegiate dance program or dance trainee program should be studying in the Ballet Conservatory Division.
A wide breadth of classes are offered, taught by highly trained professional teachers.
Below you'll find additional information regarding both pathways of classes, that is, Leveled Classes & Conservatory Program.

Levelled Classes

Jazz 7_8.heic

Jazz 7/8​

Tuesdays 6:45 - 7:45 pm

​

Jazz 7/8 is for the very experienced student (at least 4 years of previous dance experience are required).

 

A strong warm-up is followed by longer, more complicated combinations including pirouettes, leaps, and working across the floor.

 

An expressive performance is emphasized.

Tap 7/8​

Tuesdays 7:45 - 8:45 pm

​

Tap dance is characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion.
The sound is made by shoes that have a metal "tap" on the heel and toe. Classes will explore several
styles of tap dance, including rhythm, classical, and Broadway.

​

This class is for high intermediate through advanced tap students with several years of experience.

Conditioning 7/8​

Wednesdays 4:30 - 5:15 pm​

Thursdays 7:00 - 7:45 pm

​

Drawing on concepts from Pilates and Yoga, this class is designed
to help create long, lean, strong muscles and provide the cross
training that today's dancers need.

 

Primary focus will be on the
core muscles of the abdomen and back with additional upper
body and leg exercises.

 

Conditioning class

is recommended for all dancers ages 11 and up.

adv hip-hop 2.HEIC

Advanced Hip Hop

Wednesdays 5:15 - 6:15 pm

​

Get ready to move and get funky with the Hip-Hop classes. Hip-Hop is seen in popular music videos. You will learn various styles including Hip-Hop, Popping, Locking, Wacking, and House.

 

Advanced Hip Hop is for the
experienced dancer.

Modern 7.heic

Modern 7/8​

Saturdays 10:30 - 12:00 pm

​

Modern dance developed as a response to the restrictions of classical ballet.

​

Based on Graham technique, Modern 7/8 is for advanced dancers with strong previous modern experience. In modern dance, students dance barefoot and learn techniques to increase core strength and movement awareness.

Dress Code

Ballet

Girls: black leotard, pink convertible tights, pink ballet shoes, hair in a clean bun

Boys: white leotard or fitted t-shirt tucked in, black tights, white socks, white ballet shoes

Conservatory 8 dancers may wear any solid color leotard on Saturdays

Tap

Girls: black leotard, pink/tan tights, black tap shoes, hair in a clean bun or ponytail, black jazz pants/shorts optional

Boys: white t-shirt, black shorts or jazz pants, white socks, black tap shoes

​

Jazz

Girls: black leotard, pink/black tights, non-marking black jazz shoes, hair in a clean bun or ponytail, black jazz pants/shorts optional

Boys: white t-shirt, black shorts or jazz pants, white socks, non-marking black jazz shoes

​

Modern

Girls: black leotard, pink/black footless tights, hair in a clean bun or ponytail

Boys: white t-shirt, black footless tights or fitted dance pants

​

Hip-hop

Non-restrictive clothing and non-marking sneakers that have not been worn outside, hair secured away from face,

no bare midriffs.

Before you place your order online, come into the studio to get fit!

If you are a first time student joining our 2025 - 2026 season, you will receive a special Tote Bag filled with goodies (after your free trial class and included in your registration fee) such as a leotard, tights, and bun making kit.

You will also be sized for shoes at the studio. â€‹
