Children's Division

Welcome to Carroll County Dance Center & Ballet Conservatory's Children's Division for ages 6.5 - 10.5.
The Children’s Division ballet curriculum is an organized syllabus of instruction based fundamentally on the Russian Vaganova syllabus, while incorporating other contemporary training methods and up-to-date movement principles. Through movement exercises designed to build coordination, musicality, strength and flexibility this program provides a strong foundation in classical ballet technique and overall dance education. It is intended as a sound preparation for those wishing to join the Conservatory Program. It also provides the necessary foundation so helpful to those wishing to move on to jazz or high school dance teams, or onto performance competition teams. Shorter combination classes are offered for those interested in sampling several different disciplines in a time period appropriate to the school-age child. Below you'll find additional information regarding both pathways of classes, that is, Leveled Classes & Conservatory Program.

Levels 1 & 2:

Ages 6.5 - 8.588

Levels 1 & 2 build the foundation needed to study all forms of dance. In Ballet class, floor exercises build strength and flexibility while center exercises develop musicality and coordination. Tap classes help dancers further their understanding of rhythm and improve articulation of the feet and ankles.

Levels 3 & 4:

Ages 8.5 - 10.5

In Levels 3 & 4 we introduce the format of a traditional ballet class, working at the barre and continuing on to center practice. Dancers who are serious about their ballet studies have the opportunity to join the Conservatory Program. Jazz and Tap classes give students the opportunity to move a little quicker and enjoy dancing to more contemporary music.
